Where do the templates come from?

They're curated from the community-maintained github/gitignore repository, the de-facto standard source for gitignore templates across languages and tools.

Should I include OS and editor templates?

Usually yes. Even if you use macOS and VSCode, someone on your team may use Windows or JetBrains — including both keeps your repo clean for everyone.

How do I use the generated file?

Save the content as '.gitignore' (note the leading dot) in the root of your project. Existing tracked files aren't ignored retroactively — use 'git rm --cached ' to untrack them.

Can I mix multiple languages?
